Popular internet plans for gamers
Get ready for faster internet
If you’re a gamer looking for the fastest internet speeds to support multiple users and seamless streaming, you’ll find them with AT&T. Use the chart below to compare upload and download speeds, and determine which plan is right for you.

Stream smoother than ever with fiber-fast internet
A 100% fiber network means faster speeds, less wait time, and a 99% reliable internet connection2—so you can stream and game at the fastest speeds available. Eliminate buffering and lag time, and get an edge over your opponents when with lower latency and faster ping.
Fiber is especially great for massively multi-player (MMO) and multi-player online battle area (MOBA) games.

Frequently asked questions
What internet speed do I need for gaming?
System requirements vary, but as long as your minimum upload speed is at least three Mbps and your download speed is at least three Mbps, you should be able to play most online games.
Even more important is ensuring you have the required bandwidth for your entire household to minimize ping, as those speeds are per person (i.e., if you have three gamers using the same connection, you’ll need a minimum of 3 Mbps upload speeds and 9 Mbps download speeds).
What is latency, and how do I minimize it?
Latency is the amount of time it takes a packet of data to go from transmitter to receiver. Think of it this way: if you and your opponent attack at the same time, the player with the lower latency will have a greater advantage, because their signal will reach the game’s server first.
The easiest way to minimize latency in your connection is to hardwire your connection via an Ethernet port.
Is fiber internet better for gaming?
Fiber-Fast internet generally offers faster upload and download speeds, along with a more reliable connection.
The cost of gaming over a lifetime
Do you know how much you spent on your first video game? For some, that answer is easy, but for others who consider themselves heavy gamers that amount may be long forgotten.
The All Home Connections team conducted research on gamers’ spending habits by surveying 1,000 American gamers to determine how much the average gamer spends on gaming in a lifetime compared to streaming, fitness and travel and to learn which generation spends the most.
How much will each generation spend on gaming in a lifetime?
The life expectancy of the average American is 80 years old. We calculated exactly how much each generation of Americans will spend on gaming assuming they begin paying for their own gaming expenses at 16 years old.

Spending vs. investing gaming money by generation up to retirement
The average American retires at age 65. We calculated how much money each generation would make if they invested the amount that they spend gaming each month at a 6% return rate from age 16 to 65.
